Dear Friends and Family, We are well into the holiday season and Christmas is only a week away! I love this time of year, it’s so alive and pretty with all the lights, decorations, the celebrations with family and friends and great food! Many of us have been very busy during this time of year however let us not lose sight of the babe in the manager who came to show us how to love, lived, died and came back to life again. God gave us the amazing opportunity to receive all the gifts that He gave to us, including the gift of salvation and an eternal home. He is the most valuable gift you will ever receive. He is the miracle of Christmas! “And the angel said to them: Fear not; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all people. For, this day, is born to you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David." Luke 2:10-11
MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES This year I have had many opportunities to share my faith and journey through song, testimony as well as speaking on different topics with churches, women`s events and even some seniors! Jake and I came back from our missions in Mexico earlier this year, where we taught English, shared God’s word and played with the kids at the orphanage and Agape Home. Since then I have ministered locally and travelled to Manitoba and Alberta twice. The Christmas season is such a wonderful time to share Christ`s love with others! This Christmas I participated in a couple of Christmas celebrations. The Sonrise Church in Surrey, B.C. put on a Christmas Dinner for their Single Moms and I had the opportunity to sing, share my testimony and encourage them during a time that is in most cases very difficult for them. It was a wonderful evening as their hearts were touched and turned toward God. I also ministered in music at a Christmas Banquet at the Erskine Evangelical Free Church in Alberta. This was a bit of a challenge as I was not feeling very well; however God was strong when I was weak. A number of people shared with me how nothing was lost, it had been done in the right spirit, they saw Jesus all around me and the Christmas PowerPoint was so beautiful that it brought them to the real meaning of Christmas; it touched their lives. To God be the glory! You can keep updated about my Concert Schedule on my website at http://jeannettepetkau.com . As well join one of my Facebook pages, for the latest news on my Blog or on Twitter. I would also love to hear if you are interested in having me come share my ministry with you! SONGWRITING I have talked about writing songs for some time … I had a lot of ideas, some titles and half-finished works but needed a reason to get serious about it and also needed someone with whom to co-write. At the end of October I went to Nashville to songwrite with Eric Copeland of Creative Soul who is producing my next project. It was an amazing two days! We wrote a number of great songs that will be on my next recording. It is very exciting!! RECORDING & UPCOMING CD Prior to songwriting, I had a consultation in October with Eric Copeland of Creative Soul in Nashville. We talked about my music and ministry and the need for a new recording. I had been saving up funds from concerts and CD sales to do a recording and believed that this was in God`s plan, so I am trusting Him as I am taking this next step of faith. The recording got underway once we had the songs written, the rough tracks are being worked on as I speak; a few of them are already in my possession as I plan and prepare to be in the studio to record my vocals in January. You won`t want to miss getting a copy of this when it comes out, these songs will touch your heart and life. If you are interested you can pre-order a copy by mailing your contact information to: Break-Thru Productions #220-20391 96th Avenue, Langley, B.C. 1M 2L2 with a $20 cheque which will include shipping. The CD will be mailed to you as soon as it is released. The release date is scheduled for the Spring 2012. I will keep you informed of the month and date and any CD release Parties or tour dates that develop. FAMILY NEWS This year Jake and I have struggled with a number of different health issues. I am getting over yet another virus and when those come around they always seem to slow us down. I sometimes do look at them as a gift from God…but this one didn’t seem to come at the time I thought was right. I have also had to watch my sugar levels but am thankful that I have not had to go on any medication. My husband Jake has been suffering from neck and back issues for many years due to an accident that he had many years ago…but it seems to be getting much worse lately. He has gone for a scan and will be seeing a specialist. We are hoping it will be soon. Our son Mike, Danielle and our three grandsons’ will be coming to visit us for Christmas and we are looking forward to celebrating with them! However, we will miss spending Christmas with our parents and siblings in Manitoba again. As a family we decided that we would help out a Missionary instead of buying gifts for one another, even though we bought something for the grandsons! As well my family also agreed to help a Charity since we have so much compared to those that have so little. It`s wonderful to help out those who are in need, to look beyond ourselves to those who are hurting, lonely and poor. There are so many ways that we can do that, sometimes it`s just a phone call to say hi, having coffee or tea with someone, or giving a jar of goodies with a smile! Try to think of someone that you can reach out to this Christmas. Ministry to the Homeless & Disfranchised Throughout this year Jake and I have had the opportunity to reach out to the homeless and disfranchised here in our own city of Langley. There are many people who are in need of a meal and Jake and I have had the opportunity to cook and serve 1 meal a month to 60-80 people. This is organized by Pacific Community Churches Monday Night Café. It is a joy to put a smile on the faces of these people, to lift their spirits and bring hope to some of their desperate circumstances. We are looking forward to being there once again this Monday! Our plans to go to Mexico this year are unsure because of some of the obstacles we are having at present but we are hoping to go when we are able. How Can You Get Involved?
